Hot Creek Valley Spring (updated 2003)

Garside and Schilling (1979) reported a spring in Sec. 30, T7N, R51E, based on the location reported by Hose and Taylor (1974) and a similar township and range location by Waring (1965, no. 124). However, Trexler, Koenig, Flynn, and others (1981; Table E2) reported that they could not locate a hot spring in that area. Nearby (about 2 km northwest) Blue Jay Spring is 12°C (Dick Benoit, written commun., 2002). Travertine is, however, present in the vicinity of Blue Jay Spring (Dick Benoit, written commun., 2002). Probably the Waring (1965) and Hose and Taylor (1974) locations are for one of the springs in Hot Creek Canyon about 15 km to the northwest.
