Hyder Hot Springs (updated 2004)

Hyder Hot Springs in SW¼ Sec. 28, T25N, R38E have reported temperatures of 28-79°C (Cohen and Everett, 1963). They are found in northern Dixie Valley several kilometers west of the Clan Alpine Mountains. They appear to lie along a zone of Quaternary faults which cut alluvium (Stewart and Carlson, 1978). A carbonate mound and travertine terraces are reported, and the estimated reservoir temperature by chalcedony geothermometer is 84ºC (GeothermEx, 2004), similar to the spring temperature.
