Southern Pacific (updated 2004)

Phillips Petroleum Company drilled about 39 temperature-gradient holes in an extensive area defined as "Southern Pacific" by SMU, Richards and Blackwell (2002), and Sass and others (1999). The area, in the Trinity Range east of Lovelock, is a rectangular area about 18.5 km E-W by 44.6 km N-S, with its center located in southeastern Granite Springs Valley about 9 km west of Ragged Tom Mountain (GeothermEx, 2004). Drill holes are as deep as 91 m, and have bottom-hole temperatures as high as 36.1ºC. Location: 40.06ºN, 118.89ºW.
