We received over 170 entrants in the Earthquake Awareness and Preparedness Poster Contest. The information packet was mailed to the schools this week. We prepared 600 packets - included a copy of the Governor’s proclamation, a script of an earthquake drill, how to do a drill, classroom hazard hunt checklist, home hazard hunt checklist, and suggestions for a school earthquake safety plan. Radio stations were reluctant to broadcast the drill this year. In the packet of information sent to the schools, we asked the schools to hold a drill sometime during the week. We also included several questions about the School Safety Calendar and Earthquake Awareness Week. We hope to have responses from the schools in a about two weeks.
