The Pennsylvanian and Permian Strathearn Formation, part of the overlap assemblage of the Antler orogeny, stratigraphically and temporally brackets emplacement of a major allochthonous thrust plate of mainly quartzarenite of the Ordovician Vinini Formation. These relations document late Paleozoic contractional tectonism in the area.
