Geologic map of the Mule Canyon Quadrangle, Lander County, Nevada by David A. John and Chester T. Wrucke

The west side of the north-northwest-trending middle Miocene northern Nevada rift cuts lower Paleozoic siliciclastic rocks of the Roberts Mountains allochthon in the map area. The northern Nevada rift, marked by mafic dikes and lava flows and unconformably overlying dacite and olivine basalt lava flows, hosts important syn-rift epithermal gold-silver deposits at the Mule Canyon Mine.
